Based on Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel, the play follows young D’Artagnan as he arrives in Paris in 1625, determined to join the legendary Musketeers—Athos, Porthos and Aramis. He soon finds himself caught in a dangerous plot involving the Queen of France, Cardinal Richelieu and Milady de Winter.
Ludwig’s adaptation combines daring duels, narrow escapes and larger-than-life villains with fast-paced comedy. Beneath the adventure is a story about friendship, loyalty, courage and finding one’s place in the world.
More than 75 students are involved across the production’s cast and crew. Stage combat is central to the action, with student performers taking on choreographed sword fights, brawls and physical comedy to bring 17th-century France to life.
The creative team includes director Morgan Knight, producer Kelly Ruggieri, set designer Joseph Napolitano, technical director Evan Perrotta, lighting designer Gracie Heath, costume designer Joanne Sprague and production manager Gabrielle Moorman.
The production offers residents of Scotch Plains and Fanwood an opportunity to see the work of student performers and crew members in a theatrical adaptation designed for audiences of all ages.
